well, what do you think?

via today and tomorrow.

Laurel is the best

Joy Fennel, Angella N., Reginald Drummer and I shot my super amazing friend, cat/housesitter and fellow hood rat Laurel Stovall @ NY Models last week. The stills go along with the video piece linked to a few posts below. We all heart Laurel, especially because she alerted me to the existence of tasty lime/raspberry bubbly water and she helps me deal with all our kittens and helps wash up after dinner times. Phew. Yay Laurel! Look for the story out in November in any newsagent.

Bruno Dayan

It's late, and pretty much all I have to say about this is go and check out the new work on Bruno Dayan's web portfolio. It has gone in a new direction and is super cool.

oh dear. that's too many.

killer outfit

This story, from the current issue of Dazed and Confused, goes overboard with the blood even for me, but the above image is gorgeous. Shot by Matt Irwin and styled by Robbie Spencer, the whole story gets a bit cheesy, but here the stripes, mask and case are all working together to make perfection. A+ guys.

more facelessness

Love this plantful face removal by photographer Briony Ridley.

May Heek

Loving the work of May Heek, a Dutch photographer. This face covering idea is very close to my heart.

windy building

In 2002, Ned Kahn worked with the staff of Technorama, the major science center in Switzerland, and their architects, Durig and Rami, to create a facade for the building which is composed of thousands of aluminum panels that move in the air currents and reveal the complex patterns of turbulence in the wind. So lovely.

Charlie Le Mindu

Charlie Le Mindu makes some seriously amazing hair creations. Go to Dazed Digital to read the article and view more images of his crazy work.

David LaChapelle documentary

Interesting short doc on David LaChapelle. My favorite quote has got to be "It's quite hard to look at a lot of them [the images]... and if there is one problem with his work, that's it."

I would say that's kind of a big problem, but hey... whatever. I also like the lady that is obsessed with her beautiful silver spray paint.

Also, this super fantastic owl handbag by Kate Spade. Everythings coming up animals this spring! Hoo Hoo, owls.

Jenny Holzer

I am always a fan when people make words really big and put them on things. I find that it is a very effective technique for making important seeming work, kind of like making a photograph all red or really really big. Of course, it helps if the text is resonant and/or smart in some way. Anyhow, I am really feeling Jenny Holzer' projection work right now. Check out her site for lots, lots more. Good stuff. It kind of reminds me of Barbara Kruger, but you know, not really annoying and lame. She bugs me, Old Krugie. I never understood what all the fuss was about her.
