art fart
Normally I am not a fan of these types of urban project pieces involving mass participation, but because this one is making fun of ART I am giving it a pass. I also really enjoy the description cards of the 'art'. I wish the shots lingered on those longer, they seem really amazing. "Train entering and leaving the station." Haha.

Fistfights to hang out with Orange Jay
Yesterday riots, stampedes and fistfights erupted at NYC auditions for the 5'7 and under auditions for the next season of ANTM. Yes, you heard it right. For a season where it goes without saying that shorties be havin' no chance whatsoever of even pretending to have a shot at being any kind of real model. YOU MUST BE TALL. Come on. You can be skinny and tall or fat and tall but you MUST BE TALL. Ugh. Anyway, it sounds like a zoo and all kinds of chaos ensued.

What's it like to fly on Air Force One?
This great blog post by Larry Downing, a Reuters photographer assigned to the White House, will tell you all about shooting on Air Force One. It has a flying OR on it! Amazing!

Good or Wanky? You decide.
I'm not sure. Leaning towards the latter.

Huh?
Love this piece by artist Roger Borg, based on the NYC MTA's horribly worded slogan. Seriously, the grammar and syntax in this thing drive me crazy every time I see a city bus or poster. I know the MTA are trying to be "catchy" but -- argh! So many pronouns without antecedents. If you (who?) see something (what, specifically? a suspicious person? or a cute dog?), say something (to whom? and what to say? something about the first something? or about something else entirely?).
Ugh, what a debacle. I am glad that Roger here made some art about this mess of an attempt at communication.

Armory Show
Denise Grünstein, "Figure Out" from "The female gaze" (2009). C-print, non-reflective glass, and wood frame. 35 1/2 x 44 1/4 in. Edition of 5 + 2 AP. Available at the Galleri Charlotte Lund booth.
I've only gone to the Armory Show a few times, and then only when friends or family were showing in it, as I tend to find it super overwhelming and I want to smack people for trying way too hard to be arty. However, today I was perusing the show website and was taken by the above image by Denise Grünstein. It retails for $11,000.00. That's pretty pricey, even if the wigs are included. Anyway, if you have some free time you might find yourself in the area and want to take a gander at the show, which runs from March 5–8. If nothing else, you can find out what this year's Big Art Trend is -- the last time I attended the show, the Trend was photographs of piles of books -- every gallery that showed photography had one. One large, color, shiny, glossy print of a pile of books. How embarrassing!

Amazing.

Women Milan's Auguste Tomasuite @ Jill Sander. At first I thought the tears were gelatin and a new makeup look on the runway and thought, "Finally, something new and interesting." But sadly no, these are the real tears of an overworked, underpaid, probably seriously underfed girl who is over her crap job. The image is beautiful and so, so, so sad. I want to give her a hug.
Love.
This image by Asako Narahashi. Make sure you view the entire series at the name link. Planes can be so eerie.
Bettina Komenda
Bettina Komenda makes some seriously bizarre and interesting work that I am really feeling. FYI she is a photographer in case you are confused. She also works with fashion still life and children, in addition to mens' and womens' fashion, which I find really interesting, and she does so without looking her insane style at all. A+ 100%.
Want
This gorgeous piece by Stacee Kalmanovsky. Make sure to check out the rest of her stunning work as well.
MMM
Check out this great review of the Martin Margiela exhibition that just ended at MoMu in Antwerp. Must visit that museum.
